DPP faculty member Kristina Irion speaks at the regional conference about the independence of media regulatory bodies in the Western Balkans organized by the Council of Europe. She introduces the results of the INDIREG study that help to assess the formal and actual independence of regulatory bodies in the media sector. The two days event taking place in Tirana signifies the renewed efforts of the international community to promote best practices in the countries of the Western Balkans.

The Mundus MAPP Consortium, consisting of Central European University, the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals and the University of York, is hosting outstanding third-country scholars who are interested in contributing to the study program and strengthening academic partnerships with the Consortium institutions. Eligible candidates must be employed by an institution of higher education in any country except the 28 Member States of the European Union, Turkey and Macedonia.

Andreas Goldthau discusses geo-economics of changing oil and gas trade at Carnegie Europe

DPP's Andreas Goldthau discussed Geo-economic implications of changing oil and gas trade patterns at Carnegie Europe on 18 February 2014. His expert input was part of the EU Energy Exchange workshop Carnegie held in Brussels to bring together stakeholders from the EU Commission, the energy industry, think tanks and the non-profit sector. Andreas was joined on the panel by Carnegie's Deborah Gordon and Kirsten Westphal of Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik.

That is the key question in the article “Forget the policy gap: Why local governments really decide to take part in cross-border cooperation initiatives in Europe”, written by DPP faculty member Sara Svensson and published in the latest issue of Eurasian Geography and Economy.
