SPP professor and former dean Martin Kahanec has been invited to join a panel of experts to advise the upcoming German EU Council presidency on the questions of EU mobility. The first expert workshop on "Labour Migration in the EU: Consequences for the European Economies and Convergence of Labour Markets and Social Cohesion" organized by the German Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs took place on May 15, 2020.

CEU School of Public Policy's professor and former acting dean Martin Kahanec has been appointed by the Board of Trustees of Academia Europaea, the European Academy of Humanities, Letters and Sciences, as a member of its Section Committee of Economics, Business and Management Sciences. The appointment is effective as of January 1, 2020, and is for three years, renewable.

Last week SPP’s Global Policy Academy hosted an OSF-sponsored workshop on “Understanding the Gendered Impact of Drugs, Drug Policy and Drug Policy Enforcement.” As part of the workshop, a public panel discussion was led by Professor Julia Buxton on “Learning from the Latin American Experience: Policy and Advocacy Advancements for Incarcerated Female Drug Offenders.”
