As a research fellow at the Center for Conflict, Negotiation and Recovery (CCNR), U.S Foreign Service Officer Jay Heung helped build the foundations of CCNR's Aleppo Project. The project aims to develop concrete recommendations for the eventual reconstruction of Aleppo, Syria, while taking into account the voices of those traditionally disadvantaged during the reconstruction process, such as those of refugees and women.

The George Soros Visiting Chair at the School of Public Policy at CEU was established to celebrate the 80th birthday of George Soros, the founder of CEU and of SPP, and the Honorary Chairman of the CEU Board of Trustees. It is funded by generous donations from his friends and family. The position is awarded to scholars or practitioners who have demonstrated outstanding academic or professional achievement in the academic, professional, journalistic, political, or civic world of public policy.

Holbrooke Fellow Armenak Tokmajyan participated on behalf of the Center for Conflict, Negotiation and Recovery's "Aleppo Project" team at a four-day conference at Haigazian University located in Beirut, Lebanon, the heart of the Middle East.
