In a public lecture at the Center for Conflict, Negotiation and Recovery (CCNR) on March 20, Nimmi Gowrinathan discussed the reasons why women join radical movements as fighters. "In order to understand female fighters and shape effective policy, we need to understand the everyday lived experiences of these women," emphasized Gowrinathan.

“The passion is still there even a year later,” Tamilla Dauletbayeva (MPA ’15) said about her team’s Passion Project, the two-year capstone project for MPA students at the School of Public Policy (SPP) at CEU. Working with classmates Attila Mester (MPA ’15) and Yuxin Wang (MPA ’15), the team is undertaking a project for the Center for Conflict, Negotiation and Recovery (CCNR) to develop reconstruction and policy recommendations for Aleppo, Syria.

That was one of the questions posed by SPP Visiting Professor Jon Greenwald during a workshop organized by the Budapest Centre for the International Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities in cooperation with Central European University (CEU), the Visegrad Fund, and the Milan Šimečka Foundation. The workshop on the role of education in preventing atrocity crimes took place at CEU on November 19.
