Margetts Shares Findings on How Social Media Is Transforming Politics

During a public lecture hosted by the Center for Media, Data and Society (CMDS) at the School of Public Policy at Central European University on February 9, Professor Helen Margetts explored how social media is transforming collective action. Margetts, who is director of the Oxford Internet Institute and Professor of Society and the Internet at the University of Oxford, noted that the percentage of people who are online continues to rise—in all parts of the world.  The use of social media is also increasing, providing enhanced opportunities for more people to participate in politics.
