Mihály Fazekas and Viktoriia Poltoratskaia participated in the second plenary meeting of the EU Network Against Corruption

Mihály Fazekas and Viktoriia Poltoratskaia participated in the second plenary meeting of the EU Network Against Corruption, held by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs. The meeting gathered key stakeholders from across Europe, including national authorities, civil society, and researchers, to discuss strategies for fighting corruption. Established in May 2023 by the European Commission, the Network aims to foster cooperation and share best practices to inform the EU's first anti-corruption strategy.

 

Mihály Fazekas presented insights on corruption and anti-corruption in the healthcase sector which is one of the priority areas of the European Commission. Viktoriia Poltoratskaia presented her research on corruption risk assessment methodologies. Their contributions, based on cutting-edge analysis, provided valuable insights into improving transparency and detecting corruption risks across sectors.

 

During the meeting, participants received updates on the Commission's anti-corruption efforts and engaged in discussions on corruption risk assessments at both national and EU levels. Cross-border anti-corruption networks, as well as national corruption prevention commissions, shared insights into their approach to preventing corruption. The panels addressed high-risk sectors and the role of civil society in monitoring high-level corruption cases. The event emphasized collaboration between key actors to strengthen integrity and transparency in Europe and to further the Rule of Law reporting mechanisms in the EU.
