On Wednesday, September 13th, 2023, DPP’s professor Martin Kahanec chaired a special session on "Rebuilding Ukraine" at the annual conference of the Slovak Economic Association SEAM 2023, hosted at Univerzita Mateja Bela in Banská Bystrica. The session was co-sponsored by CEU’s Shattuck Center for Human Rights at CEU Department of Public Policy as well as the Horizon project BRRIDGE, in which DPP is involved.
In addition to Kahanec, the session featured internationally renowned speakers Veronika Movchan, Ivan Mikloš, and Yuriy Gorodnichenko. It centered on the content opf Centre for Economic Policy Research - CEPR book "Rebuilding Ukraine: Principles and Policies," co-edited by Gorodnichenko and Ilona Sologoub, to which Movchan, Miklos, and Kahanec contributed chapters.
Gorodnichenko provided insights into the key principles underpinning Ukraine's reconstruction efforts. Movchan, Academic Director and Head of the Center for Economic Studies at the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting (IER), Kyiv, presented her chapter on "International trade and FDI"; Miklos, co-founder and president of Mesa10, addressed Ukraine's EU Integration, and Kahanec discussed education reforms during and after the war.
