MAIPA students are required to complete 120 ECTS credits (96 course credits of mandatory, mandatory/elective and elective courses + 24 dissertation credits).
Students must choose one of two tracks – Democracy and Rule of Law or Policy and Governance.
- Democracy and Rule of Law track: Students must complete the Foundation Module (36ECTS); at least 12 ECTS from the Democracy 1 module; and 4 ECTS from the Policy 1 Module; at least 20 ECTS from the Democracy 2 module; and the Research Module (8 ECTS) plus the 24 ECTS thesis. The remaining credits are to be selected from elective courses (and an optional internship).•
- Policy and Governance track: Students must complete theFoundation Module (36 ECTS); at least 12 ECTS from the Policy 1 module and 4 ECTS from the Demcracy 1 Module; at least 20 ECTS from the Policy 2 module; and the Research Module (8 ECTS) plus the 24 ECTS thesis. The remaining credits are to be selected from elective courses (and an optional internship).
The THESIS is designed as a second-year project, worth 24 ECTS. It requires at least 8 ECTS credits of research methods as a prerequisite.
An optional INTERNSHIP can replace one 4 ECTS course in the second year.
In order to receive the Master of Arts in International Public Affairs degree, students must fulfill the following criteria:
- Passing grades (C+ or above) for all mandatory, mandatory/elective and elective courses completed in the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms of both years
- A minimum GPA of 2.66.
- Passing grade (C+ or above) for the master’s thesis.
- Accumulation of 120 ECTS credits over the two years as stipulated above
