DPP faculty member presents at ECPR's SGIR conference in Stockholm

September 13, 2010

DPP faculty member Andreas Goldthau presented a new paper at the Standing Group on International relations in Stockholm, 09-11 September 2010. The paper, co-authored with Aleh Cherp and Jessica Jewell, argues that the challenges the global energy system faces must be governed by striking a tenuous balance between exploitation (characterized by determination and efficiency) and exploration (characterized by diversity and flexibility). The paper argues that while today there are three largely independent energy governance arenas dealing with access, climate change, and energy security, governing a large scale energy transition will require building interlinkages between the efficient and effective arena of energy security, and the primarily explorative arenas of access and climate change.
