Jean Monnet Chair in European Public Policy and Governance

Uwe Puetter, Professor at the Department of Public Policy has been awarded a Jean Monnet Chair in European Public Policy and Governance under the Jean Monnet Action scheme of the European Commission. The chair-holder receives a grant of 27.000 EUR. The Jean Monnet Chair is awarded for fostering teaching and academic activities in the field of European Union policy-making. These activities will involve strengthening links between the EU studies at CEU and civil society organisations.

DPP faculty member presents at ECPR's SGIR conference in Stockholm

DPP faculty member Andreas Goldthau presented a new paper at the Standing Group on International relations in Stockholm, 09-11 September 2010. The paper, co-authored with Aleh Cherp and Jessica Jewell, argues that the challenges the global energy system faces must be governed by striking a tenuous balance between exploitation (characterized by determination and efficiency) and exploration (characterized by diversity and flexibility).

On 29 March Andreas Goldthau, Associate Professor, Department of Public Policy presented his new book, co-written with Jan Martin Witte (Brookings Press, 2010). John Shattuck, President and Rector delivered the opening remarks, drawing attention to the relevance of the issue of energy governance, and the timeliness of the book for a field that still remains understudied.
