Professor Cameran Ashraf has been appointed to the Advisory Board for Freedom of Religion or Belief and Security at the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). In this role Professor Ashraf will support the OSCE's work on topics including the securitization of religious or belief communities; undue and excessive restrictions on freedom of religion or belief, and the adoption and use of AI and enhanced new technologies in security settings. Professor Ashraf's appointment reflects his long professional and academic work on freedom of religion or belief and digital security. His term begins in July 2025.
