Assistant Professor Cameran Ashraf was a featured invited speaker at the 2024 International Ministerial Conference on Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB) held at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Berlin in October. The meeting was attended by a broad international audience, including ministers, MPs, civil society, and ambassadors from across the European Union, United States, and elsewhere.

Professor Ashraf's talk focused on Artificial Intelligence and Freedom of Religion or Belief Online.  The talk centered on how AI can negatively impact freedom of religion or belief online and provided a series of interventions and recommendations for governments and social media platforms to take seriously the specific ways in which FoRB manifests online and take concrete steps to preempt AI harms.

Two of Professor Ashraf's policy recommendations were introduced for adoption by the German Federal Commissioner for Global Freedom of Religion and Member of Parliament Frank Schwabe during the event's closing speech.  Professor Ashraf looks forward to next steps towards implementation of these policies in defense of the right to freedom of religion or belief."
