"Population ageing and its consequences in health, labor market and gender policies."

This collaboration was conducted under the framework of the Policy Lab's focus on the challenges and opportunities presented by population ageing and identify policy avenues to ensure the economic participation of the elderly.

The European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research & CEU's Department of Public Policy present:

Population ageing and its consequences in health, labour market and gender policies

Demographic changes pose key challenges to the sustainability of the health and long-term care (LTC) systems, but population ageing also brings opportunities for a longer and more active healthy life, as well as possibilities for economic participation in older age. It is important to re-evaluate existing policies, as well as to identify the need for new policies, to enable older people to fully participate in society. Three students from the Central European University collaborated with the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research in the frame of the “CEU Policy Lab” and produced 2 Policy Briefs focusing on challenges and opportunities presented by population ageing in the areas of health, labour market and gender policies. The Policy Briefs include a set of recommendations on necessary policies to improve long-term care provision for older people in Western and Eastern parts of Europe.
The aim of this webinar is to offer research staff and students of the Central European University, European Centre colleagues and a wider audience, especially interested in the topic of ageing and its implications across the EU to exchange at a practical level about common challenges and necessary policy developments that will ensure sustainability.
