Archimedes Muzenda (MPA '17) and two colleagues from his previous studies in urban planning in Zimbabwe are launching Urbanizim, an online magazine and blog on urban planning issues in southern Africa. "As urban planning professionals, we had no platform to discuss issues and share knowledge across cities in our region," explained Muzenda, a native of Zimbabwe. "We wanted to try to solve this problem by giving this group the space to have a voice."
Urbanizim covers all issues related to urban planning, including environmental issues, poverty, governance, and more. "Cities touch on almost all aspects of life, so we try to cover these issues through articles by a wide variety of experts as well as discussion forums in which all allied professionals and concerned community members can share concerns and best practices," Muzenda explained.
Muzenda and his two colleagues are working as the founding editorial team at Urbanizim. "After 10 months of planning, I'm excited to see how this project develops further," Muzenda said.
