The Unifying Refugee Aid (URA) team has issued an insightful and useful summary of the workshop (available for download here) that it organized at the School of Public Policy at Central European University on February 12-13, 2016. More than 100 people from dozens of NGOs and other organizations participated in the event that was developed by Sara Bojö, Galen Englund, Lena Jacobs, and Sara Sudetić as part of an Allianz Cultural Foundation Alumni Jackpot Prize project.
"The response to the event has been overwhelmingly positive," said Englund, "not only from the participants, but from the larger community as well." The Unifying Refugee Aid team has been busy since the February workshop. It organized a unique Slack live forum for exchanging information about refugee movements and needs along the Balkan route. The forum is proving to be a valuable tool for NGOs along the route enabling them to coordinate their efforts and to collaborate on advocacy actions. They are hoping also to organize a second workshop. "There is enormous interest in such a gathering," said Englund, "so we're hoping to be able to make it happen."
