Andreas Goldthau, DPP faculty and Head of Department, presented a joint paper written with Mike LaBelle of the CEU Business School on the outlook of unconventional natural gas. In his talk titled "Doomed to fail? Assessing the prospects of shale gas in Europe" Andreas argued that it is not geology or NIMBY phenomena that will make the difference in developing european shale gas. Rather, it is technology regimes that will matter most. The talk was given at the annual conference of the Political Economy of Energy in Europe and Russia (PEEER) network, which was organized in conjunction with the Energy Law Research Forum and held at UEF Finland on 5th March 2013.
