Martin Kahanec (Public Policy) in his role of workshop's scientific coordinator presented his research at a Slovak Governance Institute workshop on poverty on October 10, 2011, in Bratislava. This workshop was a part of Europe 2020 series, funded by the European Commission Representation in Slovakia. The main topic of his speech was poverty in Slovakia, its measuring and determinants. Martin Kahanec argued for a multidimensional measurement of poverty, but at the same time warned that with such broader indicator the objective of reducing the number of people in poverty in the EU by 20 million becomes less ambitious.
