More than 240 scholars from 32 countries are gathering in Budapest this week for the 2017 European Public Choice Society (EPCS) conference. The annual EPCS conference is the premier gathering for political economists and quantitative political scientists in Europe.  It meets every year at a different location. Previous meetings have been held at the University of Freiburg (2016), the Zernike Campus of the University of Groningen (2015), and the University of Cambridge (2014).

During a special event on "South Asia and the World" at the School of Public Policy at Central European University on December 2, CEU/HESP Research Excellence Fellow and Professor at National Institute of Advanced Studies, India, Carol Upadhya launched her book Reengineering India: Work, Capital, and Class in an Offshore Economy.

Archimedes Muzenda (MPA '17) and two colleagues from his previous studies in urban planning in Zimbabwe are launching Urbanizim, an online magazine and blog on urban planning issues in southern Africa. "As urban planning professionals, we had no platform to discuss issues and share knowledge across cities in our region," explained Muzenda, a native of Zimbabwe. "We wanted to try to solve this problem by giving this group the space to have a voice."
