DPP academic programs featured at CEU Virtual Open Day

November 18, 2021

This Friday, November 19, prospective students can meet CEU's Department of Public Policy during Virtual Open Day, including faculty from our newly launched professional program -  the Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA). During the day of live-streamed sessions, participants can learn about CEU’s world-class degrees with dual U.S and Austrian accreditation, student experiences, aspects of the application process and career services.

DPP offers five programs: MA in Public Policy, Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy, MA in International Public Affairs, Master of Public Administration, and Executive Master of Public Administration.

The one-year MAPP program provides students with a solid grounding in key themes of public policy and policy analysis as well as practical and issue-oriented knowledge that will prepare students for their future roles as policy-makers, advisors, and analysts in governmental and non-governmental organizations. Through the courses included in the mandatory core curriculum, students will gain a detailed and systematic understanding of how policy-making processes are shaped and influenced by both actors and political institutions, and how public policies operate and interact from the global political economy through to national and local levels.

The Erasmus Mundus MAPP program provides a detailed and systematic understanding of how political institutions, processes, and public policies operate and interact from the global political economy to national and local levels with a direct focus on European engagements at these levels of governance.

The MA in International Public Affairs is an interdisciplinary degree with an international profile intended for students who aspire to work in international organizations, NGOs, public administration, or related fields such as journalism and academia.

The Master of Public Administration degree program that develops graduates with the knowledge base and applied skills to critically engage with policy processes and debates, the methods and training to promote and advocate for evidenced-based policy, and a practitioner's perspective that enables them to move from "contemplation to application." This integrated and experiential approach to teaching and learning positions DPP MPA graduates to make a difference in the world of public policy in a period of rapid change, increased complexity, and heightened contestation.

The Executive MPA program equips future change-makers with the knowledge base and applied skills to critically and constructively tackle contemporary problems through policy processes at the sub-national, national, and global levels. It offers flexible options for mid-career professionals, and incorporates a project-based learning component via an applied project designed to simulate the type of assignments candidates face in their professional lives.

The learning in DPP's programs is problem-focused, centering on relating the latest theory to practice, providing experiential learning, and upgrading critical skills, using an inter-disciplinary and integrated practice-based approach, which builds upon the candidate’s own experience.
