SPP Dean Kahanec discusses pandemic social policy with Slovak President Čaputová

SPP Dean Martin Kahanec discussed the social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the available social policy options and approaches to their mitigation with Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová and other invited experts on Wednesday, April 22, 2021.

Some of the key points discussed included social support and assistance to the most vulnerable groups; the mobilization of social partners, municipalities, regional governments, NGOs/CSOs, and other actors at the local, regional and national levels; the need for a post-pandemic package to restart the economy, to enable cash-strapped entrepreneurs with poor access to credit to reopen their business; and the need for a proactive approach to improving the social, economic, and health situation of the most affected and alleviate social tensions in society.
